Sun flowers

My granddaughter Keely had planted some sunflower seeds this spring so excited about them. I just hoped they would come up. The flowers have been a blessing in disguise. I have never seen a sunflower have so many blooms. We did have a little mishap with one when Matthew was weedeating around them and lost one but three of them are doing great. One is yellow and one is reddish but we are not sure yet what the next one will be. Enjoy the pictures of our sun flowers.

First painting

Finished my first painting at my class of a flower and I am pretty proud of it. It is bright and colorful.

I have started a landscape and fortunately my sister has some great pictures from her trip to Europe. I am planning to paint one of those that has a beautiful little church in it. I want to paint it in an expressionistic way with bright colors and with a little abstraction. Not going to stay with the realistic theme just doesn't fit me. The scariest part is starting the picture after that nothing is hard.

Things can happen so fast.

I have not posted since I started my painting class mainly because things have not happened in it yet. First meeting was just that a meeting or the instructor called it a meet and greet. We learned about our supplies and what we need to get, met the instructor and then the other students. I have had this instructor before for a water color class and really enjoy her.

Classes two and three were spent learning about how to mix colors and she had given us a color chart that we were suppose to match. Her chart was written as to how we were to mix the colors and then ours had the colors on it. I really need to redo mine. I need to redo it because I think some of the colors are in the wrong order and on the last day I was not really thinking straight. I was very tired because my mom passed away on Thurs. before this class on Tues. and I had not had much rest. Going to this class was good therapy for me. It felt good to get engrossed in the paint and mixing and have no other thought.

This next week we are to start painting flowers. I have downloaded several pictures that I can choose one picture of a flower and we shall see how it goes. Wish me luck.

Have a great day.

Welcome

I am starting a new blog because I want to share new adventures I am starting. I am taking my lead on this from a couple of people. One is my sister's daughter in law who has a blog called Cookie and Claire where she has shown how to's on many crafts she makes and she makes some cute stuff. (she has the cutest model for her stuff as well.) Second from my sister and her husband from their blog about their many travels they have made. (5 weeks to Europe). This is a great way to show some fun things and keep people updated on what you do.

A little history about me I am a high school art teacher, a wife, sister, daughter, mother, and grandmother. I have 8 grandchildren 2 girls and 5 boys. They are all the most precious grandchildren in the world.  is a picture of my children and some of my grandchildren. Since this picture was taken there have been two added and my other granddaughter was not able to be in the picture.

These are pictures of the two new additions to the family. See I told you my grandchildren are precious.

Now on with the blog. The first thing I want to share is a gift I made for two of my grandchildren's teachers. They are bags made from old blue jeans. I really had fun making these and they were so easy. I plan to make some more from bigger jeans. These could be great graduation gifts. Here is a picture of the jean bags that I made.

I am starting a painting class very soon and I will post my accomplishments when they are done (I hope!). Have a great day.
